History of the Company

South Sask Bus Lines Inc. is a local charter bus line and tour company, owned and operated by Billy Buckton Jr.

Billy started out in the charter bus line industry by working with his father, Bill Buckton Sr. in 1997.  While Billy was playing for the bantam AA Kabos Raiders in Swift Current, his parents, Bill and Connie Buckton, expanded their Business, Excel Bus Lines and moved to Swift Current. Billy continued helping his parents with mechanical maintenance and expanded his knowledge with charter buses. He continued with the Swift Current Hockey Association until 2001 when he moved on to play two years in the AJHL.

In 2003, Billy moved home to continue working at the family business.

He married Jayden in 2008 and they had three children.

In 2013, Billy and Jayden saw the opportunity to start up their own business in Moose Jaw. They founded South Sask Bus Lines and purchased their first three buses. Since then, the company has grown exponentially.

South Sask Bus Lines is known for busing K+S Potash, the Moose Jaw Warriors, the Swift Current Broncos, the Moose Jaw Miller Express, other local sports teams from Moose Jaw and Swift Current, as well as many more.

With their commitment to safety, cleanliness and good service, this family run business has grown quickly over the years. In 2017,  South Sask Bus Lines acquired Excel Bus Lines, which held a fleet of five buses, making our fleet fifteen highway coaches, three shuttles, three vans, and now has thirteen full time employees.

We would like to thank everyone for all their support over the years, and we look forward to many more years to come!
